CHASSIS

Suitable chassis, three or four axle forward control with a recommendable wheel base of 5,1 m. – 5,3 m. For a three axle chassis the minimum front axle capacity is 8 tons, preferably 9 tons. For a four axle chassis the front axle minimum capacity is 2 x 7 tons. Rear axle capacity in both cases minimum 2 x 13 tons. Chassis should be equipped with power take off PTO for direct mounted pump preferably on engine but PTO on gearbox is also possible in both cases the ratio should be approximately 1,1 to 1,2.


RECOVERY UNIT

BB 9010
The recovery unit is hydraulically operated. The material we have chosen is Swedish extra high-tensile steel (Re 640-700 mm²). Main components:
  • Sub frame
  • Two stiff legs
  • Lifting boom with two double acting, two staged telescopic cylinders
  • Folding and extendible boom 2 x 750 mm for three-axle and 2 x 1100 for four-axle

The components in the recovery unit are sandblasted, primed black (RAL 9005) and top coated for maximum resistance against corrosion. The exposed parts of the extendible boom are chromated. Lubrication points are piped out for easy access.

After top coating the components of the recovery unit they are refitted on the chassis.

Once the recovery unit is completed and final coating done the final assembly takes place.

SUB FRAME

The sub frame is made of rectangular sections of extra high tensile steel. The recovery unit is fitted on the chassis according to specifications by the truck manufacturer. The Bro sub frame is rigid enough to support the lift unit and still allowing the original frame to flex.


STIFF LEGS

The stiff legs are made of extra high-tensile steel with wide toothed spades for maximum holding capacity and with integrated foldable ground plates. The stiff legs are separately operated over hydraulics.


LIFTING BOOM

The lifting boom is supported by strong bronze bearings which gives a long service life. The wire outlet of the main winch goes through the lifting boom, which at the rear outlet has a large turnable sheave. The second winch wire runs on top of the lifting boom. The lifting boom action is controlled by two double acting and two staged telescopic cylinders.


FOLDING AND EXTENDIBLE BOOM

The folding boom bearings are situated down at the rearmost of the lifting boom. The folding boom is run up and down by the powerful hydraulic tilt-cylinder. For a 3 axle chassis the extendible boom is 2 x 750 mm, mechanically lockable in eight positions The two sections are run in and out of the folding boom by three parallel hydraulic cylinders. At the rearmost of the extendible boom there is the lifting bar carried in bearings.

For a 4 axle chassis the extendible boom is 2 x 1100 mm, mechanically lockable in ten positions The two sections are run in and out of the folding boom by three parallel hydraulic cylinders. At the rearmost of the extendible boom there is the lifting bar carried in bearings.

COMPARTMENTS

The compartments are manufactured of 3 mm cold-rolled sheet steel, have a minimum of eight separate storage-rooms of which four have large doors. When planning and designing the compartments we aim for maximum loading capacity, chassis adaption as well as current laws and regulations are all taken into consideration. The compartments are LED-illuminated and provided with brackets for the unit’s lifting and towing equipment. The Bro flexible tool carrying system makes it easy to shift the tools and to expand with more brackets without welding. The doors made of stainless steel have rubber seals and red reflectors. The hinges are made of stainless steel and equipped with grease nipples.

All locks have locking caps.BB 9056To obtain maximum compartment space it may be necessary to move fuel and/or air tanks from the chassis frame to the sub frame or other more suitable place. Depending on type of chassis, type of recovery unit etc. we will recommend the best alternative.


WINCHES

Standard first winch is a Sepson H300G, specification as below:
  • Hydraulic spur gear winch
  • An air operated dog clutch for free spooling of the wire
  • Automatic instantaneous hydraulic breaking holds the wire at any point, also under full load
  • The winch has automatic speed control and gears down when pulling exceeds approx. 3 ton
  • Operation from rear control valve

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

All electrical wires are protected by wire protection norm IP50 (DIN 40050) and IEC144. The main electrical centre with fuses and relays is placed in one of the compartments for maximum protection. The electrical control-centre is placed near the hydraulic control valve. The recovery unit has a timer stating hours in use. Free spooling of winches only function with PTO engaged.
